SUKANYA SAMRIDDHI ACCOUNT (SSA) :
- This account is only
for Girl Child .
- 0 – 10 Years age group
girl only eligible. (11- years also eligible for current year only)
- Father (or) Mother
(or) Legal guardian open this account
On behalf of minor child.
- Only Two girl child
accounts are eligible. If the second birth results twins
Also eligible as special case.
- Minimum contribution is Rs.1000/- and Maximum is Rs.150000/-
in a Financial year. Subsequent deposits
in multiples of Rs.100/- only allowed. No restriction on number of deposits. If the depositor fails to contribute
minimum amount Rs.1000/- in any
financial year an amount of
Rs.50/- is to be collected
as penalty fee for further continuation of this account.
- Rate of interest : Offering interest @ 9.1 % (This year 2014-15) which is cumulative
and credited into account end of March every year. Interest rate is not a fixed one. It may varies time to time
as per govt. decissions.
- The Time period of this account is:-
(a) Deposits accepted up to 14 – years from date of opening of account.
But account can close on 21- years from date of
opening. During this break period
govt pays interest.
(b) But the account is matured if
Marriage of girl took place after
18 years of her age , before 21 years of
date of opening of account.
8. No loan facility . But 50% of balance at credit on preceding year
allowed as withdrawal
For
Education / marriage purpose on attaining 18 years of girl age,
9. TAX
Benefit : Contributed amount will be
deductible u/s 80C of income tax.

Date of Birth copy of child,
Address proof of Parent (Aadhaar, House
hold, voter card,
Driving license, Pass Port copy etc.,) and PAN card copy with 3- Photos of
Child and Parent
are required to Open this account.

After changing couple of rules recently, this Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana has become more clear now at least for NRI people.
