Post office opens on Sunday and  holiday for pre sorting of mail

As per directorate orders some selected post offices will open on Sundays and holidays to attend  presorting works of mail.  One Sorting Postman, one PA will attend for this purpose generally (or) more staff as per mail quantum.  But the Postal unions are strongly protesting this decision  which weaken the efficiency of the officials and sending representation to the Directorate.

-- Unzip and copy the exe file to DBAnalyzer folder
-- Run the exe from DBAnalyzer folder itself.
-- Enter name of the SB Server and click 'OK'.
-- A message will be displayed for each scheme

-- Continue clicking on 'OK' until the message 'Interest rates updation completed successfully' is displayed. If any other message or error code is displayed, email the error code to SDC for solution.

SBI is providing Personal Accident Insurance (PAI)  Cover for Retired Personnel of Defence and Para Military.

a)        PAI will cover only death due to Accident.

b)        The cover will be for an amount of Rs.4 Lakhs.

c)        The cover will be available on payment of Rs.100/- for a period of one year. d) The scheme would NOT be applicable to serving Defence/Police and Para Military personnel etc. (Serving personnel having DSP/ PMSP Accounts with us are currently covered by SBI complimentary offer of PAI)  e)        The maximum. age at the time of entry into the scheme should be (after retirement) 65 years.   In so many cases  CATs pronounced  that title .But the employers are not following :- Read this a similar case which was ruled out by CAT, Madras Bench: -

 Case in Brief :-  The Central Administrative Tribunal, Madras Bench, has ruled that promotion cannot be withheld because of the mere pendency of investigation and directed the Defence Ministry to promote an Indian Ordnance Factories Service (IOFS) officer within 45 days.  Disposing of an application filed by M. Ravi, a 1975 batch officer, the Bench, comprising members B. Venkateswara Rao and Naresh Gupta, held that the defence authorities had erred in withholding his promotion without valid reason. The Bench also said, “No charge sheet has been issued to the applicant. The promotion was withheld merely on the ground of pendency of criminal investigation by the CBI.”   The Tribunal added, “Unless a regular charge sheet is issued, no disciplinary action can be initiated against the officer of the government and no promotion can be withheld by the mere pendency of investigation.”  // The Hindu- Chennai 21.06.13//

Getting a PAN is  tough :  govt. plans more stringent verification :

Getting a Permanent Account Number (PAN) is going to get a bit tougher, with the income-tax (I-T) department gearing up to make the verification process more stringent, after some cases of fraud came to its notice. Ration cards and rent receipts might no longer be accepted as proofs of identity and address. The tax department might also ask for proof of date of birth for issuing a PAN card. Instead of a rent receipt, a rent agreement along with proof of address of the owner would be accepted. Aadhaar number, gas connection documents, and a certificate issued by the employer in a prescribed format would be accepted as identity/address proof after changes to the income tax rules are made shortly.The proposed move comes after the Economic Offences Wing found some foreign nationals, particularly from Afghanistan, were using fake PAN cards as proof of identity. In most of these cases, a fake certificate of identity and address signed by a Member of Parliament (MP) was issued. //http://www.business-standard.com//

Reliance Capital, on Friday, said it had decided to suspend sale of gold in physical form, including supply of gold coins for sale through India Post, and also as an investment product, across all its businesses and subsidiaries. Reliance Gold Fund is having an assets under management (AUM) of around Rs.3,000 crore.  Postmasters  are deducting  Income tax  (salary head) , TDS form  SCSS /  NSS-87  ( Non salary head) as per the forms submitted by the depositors. And the monthly TDS schedule /Quarterly TDS schedule  has been sent to concerned HOs for submission to Income Tax department though on line. We come across many of the depositors are complaining about non reflection of their deducted TDS in their account (as per Form-16A).  We have to check whether the deducted TDS is paid to IT dept or not. In respect of salaries also this information is useful.

ICAI signs MoU with Indian Department of Posts :

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Government's Department of Posts (DoP) to support its changeover from cash-based accounting to accrual-based accounting. As part of the agreement ICAI will help organise training programmes on accrual basis of accounting for the DoP postal accounts offices of all 22 circles on a pan-India basis.    ICAI said the first two programmes in the series have been held in Jaipur and Bangalore.(Source: the accountant online.com 27.02.13)

China has developed the fastest computer of the world called Tianhe-2

  A survey conducted by Top 500, revealed on 17 June 2013 that the Chinese supercomputer is the fastest computer of the world. This Chinese supercomputer is called Tianhe-2 and it replaced US machine called Titan, which was earlier said to be the fastest computer of the world.

However, it is important to note that US is still leading in overall supercomputer rankings. 252 systems of US make it to the list of top 500 supercomputers of the world. The overall number of European machines is 112, while that of Asian machines is 119. The Top 500 list is produced two times in a year. The supercomputers in this list are rated on the basis of their speed of performance in a benchmark test which is conducted by experts from US as well as Germany.

India Post’s bank plans meet hurdle

The Department of Financial Services (DFS) has opposed the proposal of the Department of Posts (DoP) to apply for a banking licence. According to the DFS, though the network of post offices is large with 1.55 lakh offices across the country, they neither have an interconnected system in place to give people access to their money anywhere and at anytime like the banks, nor experience in lending. “A Cabinet note is being circulated by the DoP for them to apply for a banking licence. But we are against the move,” a senior DFS official told FE. The DFS official, however, said the DoP's plan seems “half-baked” as it was “not clear on how they will evolve a system like the banks have to help their depositors access money easily anywhere at anytime.” //info.pz.10.com

Launch of Logistics Post Air Service : India Post has started “Logistics Post Air Service in Association with Air India on identified sectors amontst 15 linking airports, Agartala, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Nagpur, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Imphal, Guwahati, Patna, Lucknow & Trivandrum (Thiruvananthapuram). The main  featuresof this service include. (i)            First Category: Airport.Customer to deposit the consignment at the postal facility available at the airport premises at Logistics Post Air Booking Centre, Palam TMO, New Delhi – 110037 and the delivery will be effected to the customer at the post office facility at the destination airport. (ii)          Second Category: City to City (on payment of additional charges). On payment of City to City charges, the consignment will be booked at Logistics Post Air Booking Centre, RMS Bhawan, Delhi - 110006 and the delivery will be effected at the Logistics Post Delivery Centres in the Destination city. (Minimum additional charges Rs 50 per consignment @ Rs. 1/- kg). (iii)         Third Category: Door to Door (on payment of additional charges). Pick up from the premises or delivery at the permises of the consignment (Minimum additional charges Rs. 100 per consignment @ Rs. 2/- per kg). Charges shall be as per volumetric weight rates to be followed in accordance with IATA standards (6000 cubic cm = 1 kg for the purpose). There will be four types of rates for Logistics Post Air Service viz. (i)            Standard rate            -          For consignment upto 49 kgs.
