Volume Decreased  --  Revenue Increased :USPS financial results are in for the first quarter of fiscal year 2014. Here’s a brief look at the highlights from the report as well as an income and expense comparison to the same period last year:  Q1 financial highlights:

§               First-Class volume decreased 4.6 percent to 16.88 billion pieces.

§               Standard volume decreased 2.8 percent to 21.99 billion pieces.

§               Shipping and packages volume increased 10.3 percent to 1.11 billion pieces.

§               International volume decreased 1.1 percent to 266 million pieces.

§               Periodicals volume decreased 4.7 percent to 1.56 billion pieces.
